Travis Perkins calls pitch for CRM brief

LONDON - Travis Perkins, the DIY and building materials supplier, is searching for a direct marketing agency.

The company has asked the AAR to handle the process. A longlist of agencies has been contacted and a brief is being issued.

Travis Perkins is looking for an agency to develop a UK customer relationship marketing programme for its 400,000 business-to-business customers, which include builders and public-sector workers.

In the past, Travis Perkins has sponsored sporting events to raise its profile. In 2003, it paid £1m to be the headline sponsor of the UK Snooker Championships for three years. It has also sponsored the Northampton Saints Rugby Union team and the Senior Masters golf tournament.

As well as supplying materials to the building trade, Travis Perkins also owns Wickes, the DIY retailer, which it bought last year.

The company posted flat interim profits of £110.4m for the first six months of 2006, with sales of £1.4bn.
