Paul Twivy, the former Bates Dorland group chairman, and Tim

Ashton, the agency’s former executive creative director, formally opened

the doors of their new agency, Circus, this week.

Twivy and Ashton - ousted from top jobs at Dorlands within less than a

year of each other - have teamed up with Tim O’Kennedy, former chief

operating officer of the Lowe Group and Nike’s marketing director at the

time of the ’just do it’ launch, and Dilys Maltby, a Body Shop

consultant on new alliances and ventures and the former client services

director of Imagination.

Circus describes itself as a ’media neutral’ consultancy at the

strategic end of the market which is dominated by management

consultants. However, unlike consultants, Circus aims not only to talk

strategy but to implement it.

Ashton explained: ’Strategic ideas will be executed but not necessarily

as ads - executions could be physical retail space, live events,

roadshows, TV programmes, magazines or indeed any other communication

channel.’

Twivy and Ashton have been planning Circus’s launch since the

summer.

Twivy has also been working as a consultant for the BBC and for

Millennium Central.
