The film distribution company United International Pictures has called off its pounds 17 million UK media pitch after deciding to retain The Media Edge internationally.

The film distribution company United International Pictures has called off its pounds 17 million UK media pitch after deciding to retain The Media Edge internationally.

Agencies pitching for the UK account are furious that they have wasted time preparing for a major pitch. The shortlist included Initiative, MindShare, OMD and Starcom Motive.

In the UK the TV buying, which is handled by Media Planning, may be handled by TME's sister media agency, MindShare. This could be the first example of collaboration between the two agencies, which are heatedly debating how to work together.

Charles Courtier, the managing director of TME for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: 'We are discussing various options on how the structure of the buying business may change.'
