The Independent newspaper has unveiled its next generation website, which marks a significant departure from previous versions of its online presence.
Created by the Independent's online team, Independent Digital, the new site brings together intuitive navigation, and a stylish design, with themed and colour co-ordinated channels of content.
Richard Withey, director of new media at Independent Digital, said: "UK online publishing has gone through two stages of evolution: first generation sites merely mimic their offline parents; second generation sites incorporate more interactive functionality. The Independent's site is the UK's first generation site that both stands on its own as well as being linked to the newspaper titles."
The site features rolling UK and international news and attempts to marry editorial with ecommerce propositions.
