UK shops shine at Euro Effies

LONDON - British agencies have dominated this year's EACA Euro Effies, scooping eight of the 15 awards.

Of the seven golds that were awarded, UK shops won five. Ogilvy Advertising in London picked up the Long Term Effectiveness Award for Dove deodorant.

Meanwhile, McCann Erickson was named the Agency Network of the Year, seeing off Ogilvy and the four-times winner Grey.

For McCann, the award complemented the Euro Effie Grand Prix awarded to the London agency and its Microsoft Xbox client for "believe", an integrated campaign for the Halo 3 game. The same pairing also struck gold with the "heroic story telling" campaign, also for Halo 3.

The UK gold winners also included DDB and Philips for the "feel different" campaign promoting Coolskin Nivea For Men, and Grey London and Procter & Gamble for "the affair", a campaign for Lenor Infusions.

Ogilvy and Barclays scored a double success with their Barclays Wealth brand launch work, which won a gold and a special commendation in the Grand Prix category.

Germany's four awards gave it the runner-up position in the medals table. They included a gold for MAB Media Audience Beratung and BMW for "Sunset BLVD", promoting the BMW 1 Series Convertible.
