The Scottish Labour Party, which relaunched this week as the

Scottish New Labour Party, has appointed the Edinburgh-based agency, the

Union, to create an advertising campaign in the run-up to elections for

the new Scottish Parliament next May.

The Scottish National Party is currently running high in the polls,

giving tough competition to the SNLP. The Conservatives will be trying

to re-establish a presence north of the border, while the Liberal

Democrats traditionally do well in rural areas.

Phillip Chalmers, the head of marketing at the SNLP, said: ’I have

appointed the Union to give me advice and guidance on the campaign - not

for its name!’

The Union has also been appointed to advertise the new Museum of

Scotland, to be opened on 1 December.

Scottish & Newcastle has provided the Union with their third win this

week. The agency has been appointed to promote the company’s pub

enterprises division.
