McPartland will join the agency on Monday (1 Feb) and report to Darren Bailes, the executive creative director of VCCP, and Saint Lewis, VCCP Kin’s managing director. McPartland will be part of the VCCP Kin management team and work with Bailes on clients including O2 and easyJet.
Since 2013 McPartland was at Cake, where he oversaw social, live and PR work as European creative director.
Bailes said: "Dermot seems to know what’s going on in the world before it even happens. That’s just what we need. He will make us stronger and smarter."
Before Cake, McPartland ran Mother Experience, the creative production unit of Mother, with clients such as Stella Artois, Pot Noodle and Google. He was also previously the chief creative officer at PD3, the boutique agency he co-founded with Paul Tully in 1998.
