Virtual casino seeks agency for UK launch

A virtual casino, which invites players to stake their savings

online, is searching for an ad agency ahead of its launch in the UK.

Casino on Net claims to be the world's leading web casino, with more

than 1.2 million users officially logged since its launch in the US in

1996. The site invites gamblers to register their credit card details to

establish an online betting account and then offers a range of games

such as Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Baccarat, Slots and Video Poker.

Users are given the option of practising with demo money before letting

fly with the real thing.

Additional features, such as audio links, the option of private or

public tables and a chat box to allow interaction with fellow online

gamblers, aim to recreate Las Vegas.

The casino, which is operated by the Antigua-based Cassava Enterprises

under a icence granted by the island's gaming board, has approached

agencies over the past three weeks with a double-edged brief. Pitching

shops will be asked for a solution that can divert users away from rival

sites such as williamhillcasino.com, while also attracting the attention

of potential UK advertisers.

The British public has grown increasingly familiar with the idea of

online gambling through a steady drip of betting site launches, mostly

focused on sports. Bet.co.uk, willhill.co.uk and the Coral-operated

Eurobet.co.uk already cater to the sports punter.

The Irish online bookmaker Paddy Power has invited surfers to bet on

random events such as plot developments in soap operas.
