Vizeum expands to open European and Chinese operations

Vizeum, the Aegis-owned media network, has expanded with office launches in four markets.

It has acquired businesses in The Netherlands and Sweden and opened new offices in Belgium and China.

In The Netherlands it has bought Medialand and renamed it Vizeum Netherlands, bringing clients such as Heinz, Tio Pepe and Bayer to the network. Bertil Koop, the founder of Medialand, will run the office.

Vizeum has also acquired the Zurich agency Mediahaus Seefeld to form Vizeum Switzerland. Sekan Kee heads the operation as the managing director.

The network now has 21 offices in 16 countries. It has also won the Japanese Tobacco International account across several international markets.

Other recent client wins include Asics, Timberland, Sara Lee and Kia Cars in various international markets.

Vizeum's Chinese office launches with the win of the account for the food manufacturer Yili, the second largest in China, worth around £10 million in billings. It will be run by Elizabeth Zhou, the former head of Carat China.

In Belgium, Vizeum's operation will be headed by the managing director Michel Tubbax, who has been recruited from OMD Belgium.

Martyn Rattle, the chief operating officer of Vizeum, said: "We have made real progress during the last three- and-a-half months. Consistent with the strategy we outlined in June, we've extended the network into four new countries across Europe and we continue to develop our international product offer."
