VNU is the first magazine publisher to post advertising space on

the internet trading site iMediapoint.

The website, which went live in January (Media Business, 27 September),

is an auction site for buyers and sellers of media space and

airtime.

Today the site carries inventory from Granada, Carlton, Flextech and

TSMS, as well as radio sales points like GWR’s Opus. It will soon offer

outdoor advertising.

Until now, there has been no magazine publisher present on iMediapoint.

VNU is advertising two packages online, its Computing Awards for

Excellence and VNU Marketing Solutions, a specialist publishing service

which has produced supplements for Dell, Hewlett Packard and

Microsoft.

The Computing Awards package will offer sponsorship opportunities on the

awards themselves, as well as advertising space in one of VNU’s new or

associated publications, which the company is launching to illustrate

the winning products.

Marketing manager Tony Evans said: ’We immediately recognised the

advantages of being able to communicate media ideas this way. These are

new opportunities that we think will be of real value to our

advertisers. The fact we can bring them to the attention of the key

media agency planners and buyers, without trying to see them all face to

face, is a real benefit.’

Jean Louis Velaise, founder and managing director of iMediapoint, said:

’We are offering a transparent, objective platform for the meeting of

buyers and sellers.

’With media coming at us from all directions, there needs to be a

central meeting point where planners and buyers can make the most of all

the media on offer. In a time-poor environment, it’s a better way of

matching buyer and seller ideas quickly and efficiently.’
