VNU trials cheaper compact version of computer title

LONDON - VNU Business Publications is trialling a compact format for its consumer computer title Personal Computer World, which will retail at a budget price.

The next four issues of the magazine will appear in compact format alongside the existing version.

PCW's compact format will be published without the covermounted DVD or CD that comes with the full-size version. The compact will retail at £2.75 against £4.99 for the larger format.

The compact version will deliver the same content as the A4 version of the title but is 19% smaller and will weigh less.

Richard Wilson, the publisher of consumer titles at VNU, said: "It is hoped that the new version will drive copy sales forward by introducing new younger readers to the title."
