Vodafone "Amy's birthday" by Ogilvy & Mather

Ogilvy & Mather's first campaign for Vodafone tells the story of an uncle who gets his eight-year-old niece's dream birthday gift with the help of the network's consistent call signal.

The 40-second ad follows Amy’s family after they promise her tickets to see her favourite pop star, Nathan Sykes – but the tickets don’t go on sale until the following day. Amy’s uncle rises early and stays on the phone all day. 

The campaign was created by James Manning & Richard Barrett at Ogilvy & Mather, and the film was directed by Tony Barry for Knucklehead.
