W&K picks up two black Pencils at D&AD for Honda 'grr'

Wieden & Kennedy won two black Pencils for its Honda "grr" spot at last night's D&AD Awards, securing the accolade many feel it was denied last year for Honda "cog".

In fact, the jury awarded four black Pencils, in contrast to last year when no blacks were given.

Channel 4's idents, directed by Brett Foraker, also received a black Pencil, as did Foster & Partners Millau Viaduct for the French Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Housing, Tourism and Sea. W&K "grr" won black Pencils for use of music and in the over-60-second category. It also picked up eight silvers.

Bartle Bogle Hegarty fared well, scooping four silvers for its Lynx "getting dressed" spot. Lowe London's "pilot"ad for Stella Artois was awarded three silvers. In the print category, DDB London picked up a silver for its "King Kong" campaign for Volkswagen, while Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy's entry for the Metropolitan Police was awarded a silver in the direct mail category.

The President's Award for outstanding contribution to the industry was given to Apple's Jonathan Ive.
