WCRS and Naked to launch InfoNXX's UK directory enquiries

WCRS and Naked have won the estimated £20 million creative and media tasks to launch InfoNXX, the US directory enquiries company, in the UK.

WCRS won the business after a pitch against HHCL & Partners and Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R.

The new brand of directory assistance services is set to launch in the UK after the directory enquiries market is deregulated later this year. In a recent Oftel lottery draw that paved the way for deregulation, InfoNXX was awarded the number 118811.

InfoNXX also recently appointed the consultancy Red Zebra, headed by the former Orange marketing director, Chris Moss, for the UK launch. The agency was selected by Brent Hollowell, the recently appointed vice-president of UK marketing. Media buying for the launch is yet to be organised.

Robin Wight, the chairman of WCRS, said: "In preparing for our meeting with InfoNXX, we listened in on many of their US directory enquiry calls and were, frankly, amazed. I am convinced that they will set a new standard in the UK."

InfoNXX launched in 1995. Its initial offering comprised directory enquiry services and outbound calling services to major phone companies and other businesses. In the US the firm has supplier deals with networks including AT&T.
