WCRS wins tough contest for swimwear

- WCRS has beaten off competition from Grey and TBWA Simons Palmer to land the £8 million pan-European account of Speedo, the Australian swimwear company.

Speedo, which compiled its shortlist with help from the Advertising Agency Register, had previously used Grey for its advertising across the continent. The account is worth £2 million in the UK. Media is handled by Mediacom.

Grey's last major campaign for the client was a £1 million press push starring Britain's Olympic swimmers, Alex Bennett and Nick Gillingham, which carried the strapline: "Speedo. Born in the water."
