The Week: Advertising News - Border Agency defends ads

The immigration minister, Phil Woolas, has revealed that Britain's Border Agency is spending around £8 million per year on advertising and PR.

The sum was disclosed in response to new research that indicates that at least 250,000 migrant workers are employed in the country illegally. While The Border Agency defended the publicity expenditure, Tory MPs have criticised the body, calling for more money to be invested in frontline officers rather than publicity.
