The Week: Advertising News - Car-makers want campaign

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders is urging the Government to launch a campaign promoting the benefits of electric and hybrid vehicles, following its decision to subsidise purchases of green cars from 2011 to cut CO2 emissions.

The Government has proposed that it will give consumers £2,000 to £5,000 towards the cost of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, and will allocate £20 million to develop charging points and related infrastructure, among other measures.
