The Week: Advertising news - Govt proposes food code

The Government is plotting a set of voluntary guidelines for food manufacturers, aimed at restricting the promotion of unhealthy food to children.

The Department of Health has issued a tender seeking external partners to develop the details of the proposals, which are expected to include addressing the placing of less nutritious food at children's eye levels in shops. It is also expected to require greater transparency of company policies and consistency across different media.
