The Week: Advertising news - M&S apology ad lifts sales

Marks & Spencer's recent ad featuring a close-up of a woman's chest in a green bra was followed by a 25 per cent increase in bra sales.

The ad, which ran across outdoor and print sites, carried the text "we boobed" in a bid to apologise for its revoked decision to add a £2 surcharge to the price of larger bras. The store then ran a price promotion on bras.
