The Week: City News - WPP reports slower growth

The growth of WPP's UK operations slowed in the third quarter of the year, with the company admitting that the impact of the recent financial crisis hit the UK and US the hardest of all its markets.

Its UK operations recorded year-on-year growth of 2.9 per cent, down from 4.6 per cent in the first half of the year, and UK revenue in the third quarter totalled £244 million. The group forecast a tough 2009, with growth in Western markets such as North America and Western Europe predicted to be flat or even negative.
