The Week: Kaye steps back in time as he retraces his creative roots

The eccentric ad director and film-maker Tony Kaye took a road trip around London last Friday, visiting some of the locations that have influenced his creativity.

A film of the event starts at Middlesex Hospital, where he was born, before moving on to the synagogue where he celebrated his Bar Mitzvah, St Albans Art School, where he studied, and Saatchi & Saatchi's offices, where he worked during the 80s.

Kaye then undertook a question-and-answer session in Brick Lane, where he also performed a set of his songs. During the day, which was run by Nissan, Kaye revealed that he believes in a higher power. He added: "In a way, this world is that world, and they are the same world, but it was a different world when I was here."

The director of American History X documented his day as a guest Tweeter on Campaign's Twitter feed.
