The Week: Media news - BBC steals young listeners

Commercial radio's share of both national and local listeners declined in the first quarter of 2008, according to the latest figures from Rajar.

Younger listeners (aged between 15 and 44) in particular jumped ship to the BBC, with commercial's share of that demographic falling from 53.1 per cent to 50.7 per cent. Radio 1 added almost 500,000 listeners alone.
