The Week: Media news - Five fit for top sports events

Five has achieved enough nationwide coverage to allow it to bid for the right to broadcast major sports events such as the football World Cup.

According to Ofcom, the channel is now available to at least 95 per cent of the UK - the level required for broadcasters to screen "listed" sports events, which also include the Olympics, the European Football Championship and Wimbledon.
