The Week: OMD beats Carat to £650m Renault/Nissan media task

OMD has captured the £650 million Renault/Nissan media planning and buying business across Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The Omnicom-owned network, the incumbent on the Nissan business in the region, triumphed after a final head-to-head pitch against Carat, which handles media duties for Renault.

Renault/Nissan, who have a relationship through joint-venture ownership, called the pitch to create savings and encourage closer working between the two brands on media activity. MPG, VivaKi and Group M had been knocked out of the process earlier.

The result means that Carat will lose the UK Renault planning and buying business. This is likely to move to Manning Gottlieb OMD, which currently handles Nissan. The account also includes media buying across 24 European countries for Nissan and 30 for Renault.
