The Week: Online News - AOL makes big staff cuts

AOL is laying off 2,000 staff - one-fifth of its global workforce - as part of its planned switch from providing internet access to internet advertising. Around 1,200 jobs will be lost in the US, with the remainder coming from the rest of the world, including the UK. The process is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
