The Week: People News - Carter loses strategic role

Stephen Carter, Gordon Brown's communications and strategy chief, has been sidelined to another job, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Reports say the former Ofcom and JWT chief executive is to move to a lower-key role after losing out in battles with the Prime Minister's key advisors. Carter has only been in his Downing Street job since January, when he joined from the PR company Brunswick. His appointment as the chief strategy advisor and head of communications was intended to help revive Brown's profile and reputation.
