The Week: People news - Standard swoops for Greig

The Evening Standard has appointed Geordie Greig, the editor of the Conde Nast title Tatler, as its editor.

Greig replaces the outgoing editor, Veronica Wadley, following the acquisition of the newspaper by the Russian oligarch Alexander Lebedev from Associated Newspapers. Greig has been the editor of Tatler since 1999 and previously worked for newspapers including the Daily Mail and The Sunday Times. The sale of the Standard to Lebedev's new company, Evening Standard Ltd, is expected to be concluded in the second half of February.
