The Week: Proximity hires OgilvyOne's Mike Dodds as its new CEO

Mike Dodds, the chief executive of OgilvyOne, has quit to take an equivalent role at Proximity.

Dodds, who leaves Ogilvy immediately, replaces Amanda Phillips, who left Proximity on Wednesday of last week (Campaign, 19 September). It is understood that Dodds and the Omnicom-owned agency have been in talks for some time.

An announcement concerning OgilvyOne's new management structure is expected shortly. It is thought that the agency is looking to promote internally, with the current managing director, Annette King, tipped to take the chief executive role.

Dodds joins Proximity following the agency's recent merger with Craik Jones. Mike Welsh, the last chief executive at Craik Jones, was himself tipped to take on a senior role at Proximity, but instead joined Publicis Dialog last week as its chief executive.

Cilla Snowball, the chairman of Proximity and the AMV group, said: "Mike is someone we have admired from afar for years and we are thrilled."
