Wins this week: Sainsbury's, M&S, Bauer Media, Mecca Bingo

Two of the UK's biggest retailers have opted to part ways with their long-serving incumbents this week, as Sainsbury's and M&S concluded their advertising reviews.

Sainsbury's chose Wieden & Kennedy London as its new retained agency, ending its 35-year relationship with Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO. Read more about this story.

Bauer Media has appointed the7stars to work on its media planning and buying across its portfolio of magazine and radio brands after a competitive pitch. Incumbent agency Starcom did not re-pitch.

Pablo has been appointed as Mecca Bingo’s new retained creative agency. The £10m account was awarded a competitive pitch and moves from St Luke’s.

Unilever-owned Wall's has handed its global digital account to Adam & Eve/DDB after a competitive pitch that also included R/GA and DigitasLBi. The agency is tasked with global digital comms, and with the rollout of a new web and mobile platform across the Wall's brands. Omnicom-owned Tribal Worldwide London and partner Mobile 5 will handle aspects of the rollout.  Profero will continue handling Cornetto’s global digital business, while R/GA will do the same for Magnum. 

Lakeland, the homeware company, has appointed St Luke’s to its UK ad account as the brand gears up for an above-the-line campaign later this year. Lakeland previously worked with One Marketing, which created its most recent TV ad.

Tiger Balm, the international pain relief brand, has appointed The Corner as its creative agency in the UK, following a competitive pitch. There is no incumbent.

The Corner has also picked up startup Starling Bank’s first ad account after a competitive pitch. The mobile bank has appointed The Corner to work on its logo, app design and a forthcoming above-the-line campaign.

Napoleon, the global gas barbecue maker, has appointed RBH as its first UK ad agency. RBH has been tasked with creating an integrated campaign.

SLG has picked up a global brief to launch bedding maker Tempur’s new Cocoon product.
