The Wireless Group has opened a Scottish branch of Impact, its

inhouse sales outfit, to service local agencies.

The sales operation is headed by Impact account director Marcus

Johnstone. It will begin trading this week with a team of three.

Impact Scotland will sell on behalf of its national radio station

TalkSport and the 18 Independent Local Radio stations across England,

South Wales and Scotland. The Wireless Group’s Scottish stations include

Wave 102, Scot FM and QFM 96.3.

Johnstone will target every major media agency in Scotland starting with

MediaCom TMB, Feather Brooksbank and the Media Shop.

Impact Scotland will offer advertising slots on local Scottish stations

and will also encourage Scottish clients to advertise with TalkSport on

a national basis.

Johnstone said: ’Before the Radio Partnership and the Independent Radio

Group merged into the Wireless Group, each Scottish radio station had

its own agency sales team and had to use four different reps to book

airtime.

The process will now be much smoother for the Scottish market and will

attract new business.’
