The World: Amsterdam - Mediaset and de Mol plan Endemol joint offer

The Dutch media mogul John de Mol and Silvio Berlusconi's Mediaset are preparing a joint bid for Endemol, the production company co-founded by de Mol.

The joint venture is offering around £1.2 billion for Endemol, which produces Big Brother around the globe and which was sold to Telefonica in 2000.

Last year, Mediaset's chairman, Fedele Confalonieri, said Endemol would be a "beautiful acquisition", but was too big for the Italian network to buy on its own.
