The World: Austin, Texas - PepsiCo plans $30m SunChips relaunch

PepsiCo is preparing to relaunch its Frito-Lay SunChips brand in the US with a $30 million above-the-line push.

The Austin-based creative agency GSD&M, one of PepsiCo's roster shops, has been handed the brief to create the TV campaign backing the launch.

PepsiCo has not advertised the snacks since 2001, but a repositioning of the brand to capitalise on the current consumer interest in lower-fat wholegrain snacks has led to the renewed investment.

Sales of SunChips in the US increased by 12.2 per cent to $100 million in the year ending April 2005, according to the research company Information Research.
