The World: Bangkok - Thai media agencies criticise 'content' proposals

Thailand's media agencies have heavily criticised the government's plans to clamp down on "inappropriate" TV content.

Under its proposals, programmes that require parental guidance will be banned from being shown before 9pm.

The restrictions on air time took agencies by surprise. Narong Tresuchon, OMD Thailand's chief operating officer, said: "These illogical restrictions were set by academics and intellectuals without consulting the media business."
