The World: Beijing - China angered by CNN coverage of Tibetan protests

CNN has become the latest foreign organisation to suffer a hostile backlash in China over its coverage of Tibetan protests in the Tibetan capital Lhasa on its website.

The latest row comes in the wake of the furore created when the CNN commentator Jack Cafferty branded the Chinese authorities "goons and thugs".

His comments sparked demonstrations in China and online death threats to CNN staff.

Sources say that while CNN is unlikely to be barred from operating in China, it and other organisations, including the BBC, may face stricter controls, and their ability to report the Olympics may be curtailed.
