The World: Beijing - Stone's comments on quake threaten Dior contract

Sharon Stone has put her advertising contract with Dior, the luxury-goods group, in jeopardy following her remarks about the Sichuan earthquake.

In an interview at the Cannes Film Festival, the star suggested the disaster was "bad karma" resulting from China's actions in Tibet.

Her comments provoked outrage in China and fears of a Dior boycott. The company said in a statement: "We will never support any opinion that hurts the feelings of the Chinese people."

Reports say ads that feature her have been removed from Beijing and cinema owners refuse to screen her films.
