The World: Beijing - WPP acquisitions spearhead China growth

WPP has invested in two additional Chinese agencies as it expands in the market that accounts for almost one-third of its business in the Asia-Pacific region.

The WPP media division Group M has taken a 49 per cent share in Hua Yang Lian Advertising, a media investment management agency specialising in digital media. The agency was founded in 1994 and has clients including China Mobile, eBay and BMW.

Meanwhile, WPP's Hong Kong-based Bates Asia agency has taken a 75 per cent stake in Beyond Communications.

Beyond Communications was founded in 1995 and counts Adidas, Sony and Procter & Gamble among its clients.
