World: Bejing - Adidas to sponsor Chinese Olympics

Adidas has reportedly won the sportswear sponsorship duties for the 2008 Beijing Olympics with an $80 million bid. The brand beat its rivals Li-Ning and Nike for the official sponsorship rights, awarded to the sportswear brand by the Beiijing Organising Committee for the games.

"The other brands will find other parts to play and get PR coverage, such as sponsoring the national teams. They should still be able to get exposure at the Games," a source said.

In the 2004 Olympics, both Li-Ning and Nike sponsored national teams.

The sponsorships saw the two brands face off on the basketball court, with Li-Ning backing the Spanish team and Nike sponsoring China's national team.
