Rutman, a 30-year veteran of the advertising industry, was instrumental in launching Carat in the US seven years ago. The MPG top-level management restructure comes just weeks after the defection of two of MPG's largest accounts. In January, Volkswagen America moved its business into MediaCom, while in the same month, MPG lost its place on the Intel global review.
The Havas-owned Media Planning Group has appointed Charlie Rutman, the former president of Carat US, as the chief executive of its North American operation. He succeeds Jim Rose, who left to become the chief executive of the Texas-based Mosaic Sales Solutions.
