The World: Brussels - EU hands Carat and Ligaris anti-smoking brief

The European Union has appointed the Paris-based agencies Carat and Ligaris as the respective media and creative agencies on its pan-European anti-tobacco campaign.

From 1 June 2005, three different commercials will air on television across the 25 member states to address smoking prevention in 15- to 18-year-olds, giving up smoking for young adults, and the dangers of passive smoking for all adults.

The advertising push is the largest EU campaign since the ten new member states joined in May 2004.
