The World: Detroit - FCC urged to address product placement concerns

A coalition of 23 US consumer and advocacy groups is urging the Federal Communications Commission to address mounting public concern about the growth of product placement within TV programmes.

In a letter to the FCC chairman, Kevin Martin, the coalition said: "It is not surprising that youth are vulnerable to these techniques since even adults can have trouble recognising product placement as advertising."
