The World: Hong Kong - Omnicom names Dumont Asia-Pacific president

Omnicom has named Serge Dumont the president of its Asia-Pacific operations. He will report to Michael Birkin, the chairman and chief executive of Omnicom Asia-Pacific, and will be based in Beijing.

Originally from France, Dumont has been in the region for the past 20 years. Since leaving the PR agency Edelman in 1998, he has worked as a consultant for bodies including the World Health Organisation and the French government.

Commenting on the appointment, Birkin said: "Serge has a brilliant reputation, a proven track record and extensive experience in Asia. We see his appointment as a critical step in driving many of our strategic initiatives."
