The World: Hong Kong - PHD opens office following $13m Hutchison win

PHD has opened its first Asian office in Hong Kong on the back of a $13 million Hutchison Global Communications win.

The agency picked up the account, which includes the company's mobile and 3G briefs as well as its broadband business, following a three-way pitch against the incumbents, MindShare and Maxus, which previously shared the business.

The company is focusing its media spend on convincing people to move from 2.5G to 3G.

The new company will be based in the offices of MediaWise and will have a planning and buying team of 18, including the managing director, Ray Wong, and business directors, Cedric Lamb and Clement Chung.
