The World: Jakarta - Telkom invites five shops to pitch for account

Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), one of ten mobile operators in Indonesia, has invited five agencies to pitch for its advertising business.

Lowe, BBDO, Ogilvy Advertising, Euro RSCG and Matari, the incumbent, have been selected to pitch for the full portfolio of Telkom's products and service brands. Briefings are scheduled to take place later this month.

However, a source suggested that two of five agencies have turned down the invite, believing Telkom wants two agencies, rather than one retained shop.

"Telkom has so many different brands, from internet to fixed-line phones. This means the two agencies will always be on standby, ready to pitch when something new is launched," the source said.

The Indonesian government holds a 51 per cent stake in Telekom.
