The World: Johannesburg - JWT appoints Makhene as chief executive

JWT South Africa has appointed Modise Makhene (pictured) as its group chief executive.

Ron Vrijmoet, the chief operating officer for continental Europe and Africa, said: "Makhene brings a unique mix of client, media and agency experience, having also worked for Coca-Cola USA, Tiger Brands South Africa and as the managing director for Primedia@Home."

His appointment completes a management restructure, following the hiring of Rob McClennan as the executive creative director, Eric Fologwe as the managing director and Conn Bertish as the creative director. In addition, Judy van Dam will become the managing director of JWT Johannesburg.
