The World: Manila - Universal McCann retains $40m telecoms brief

Universal McCann has retained the $40 million media planning and buying account for Globe Telecom.

The agency kept hold of the business following a pitch against ZenithOptimedia and Mindshare.

Globe Telecom, which is currently the second-largest telecommunication company in the Philippines, has briefed Universal McCann to help grow its market share among the young and foreign workers, as well as promote the fact that it is the official carrier of Apple's iPhone in the Philippines market.

The company recently reported a 15 per cent fall in profits, attributing the decline to the growing costs in maintaining its operations.
