The World: New York - David Bell retires from IPG co-chairman role

David Bell is retiring as the co-chairman of Interpublic Group and adopting the role of chairman emeritus.

Bell, who was replaced by Michael Roth (pictured) as the chairman and chief executive in January last year, will now take a consultancy role.

Bell joined IPG in 2001, when the group acquired True North Communications, where he was the chief executive. In February 2003, he was given the top job at the group, taking over the mantle from John Dooner.

Roth said in a statement: "We appreciate his many contributions and are pleased that he will continue to be available to assist us on specific industry or client initiatives."
