The World: New York - Five agencies battle for VW's US creative account

Volkswagen is expected to choose from one of five shops in contention for its US creative account after the car-maker's split with Crispin Porter & Bogusky.

They include two Interpublic shops - The Martin Agency in Richmond, Virginia and Deutsch in Los Angeles - as well as two Omnicom operations - DDB and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco. Wieden & Kennedy completes the list.

Crispin Porter, which had handled the account since 2005, declined to repitch.

VW is expected to either trim the current list or proceed immediately to a final round of pitches. Final presentations are expected in mid-October.

VW's US media spend was more than $220 million last year, according to Nielsen. It spent more than $110 million in the first half of 2009.
