The World: New York - Initiative appoints Beavan North America CEO

Initiative has appointed Richard Beavan its chief executive for North America.

Reporting to Alec Gerster, Initiative's worldwide chief executive, he will control Initiative's offices in the US and Canada, and oversee communications planning, buying and research operations.

Beavan joins Initiative from MediaVest in New York, where he was the executive vice-president and managing director.

Meanwhile, Initiative has won CBS's $130 million national media business following a pitch against OMD and the incumbent, Carat.

The review, which began at the start of the year, is the result of a number of structural changes at the media giant after CBS and Viacom split in January.
