The World: New York - News Corp launches The Times into the US market

News Corporation has launched a US edition of The Times. The paper will be printed on the presses used by its sister title, The New York Post.

The new edition has a coverprice of $1 and will use the tabloid format adopted by the paper in the UK in 2004.

The Times' editor, Robert Thomson, said:"This is a key moment in the development of The Times as an international media brand. We have seen a large increase in our Times Online readership in the US and the appearance of the paper on the streets of New York marks the next stage in our print and web expansion."
