World: Taipei - JWT considers legal case against former manager

TJ Wang, the JWT Taiwan general manager, has been sacked after agency chiefs discovered he had set up his own agency and approached JWT staff and clients to join him.

The agency's lawyers are evaluating the merits of the case with a view to starting legal proceedings against Wang.

It is understood he registered the new agency and started approaching clients after he was told by senior management he would be moved to head Conquest, JWT's sister agency in Taiwan, which was set up to handle conflicting accounts.

JWT monitored e-mails and phone calls as evidence and sent a letter to trade publications and agencies in Taiwan regarding the termination and legal proceedings. Wang has de-registered the start-up and has promised not to approach JWT staff.
